Focused trauma work alongside the therapist you trust.
You do not have to leave your current therapist to receive specialized trauma therapy. At Integrative Psychotherapy of North Carolina, adjunct therapy adds focused trauma work to the care you already receive. Your primary therapist continues supporting your ongoing needs, while we work with you on agreed-upon trauma concerns using approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, or somatic therapy, based on your needs and your IPNC clinician’s training.
Adjunct therapy is typically a short-term service, often lasting approximately 10–12 sessions. The length and pace depend on your goals, readiness, and response to treatment. We begin by discussing what you hope to address and how this work will fit alongside your existing therapy. With your written permission, we coordinate with your primary therapist to support continuity of care. As our work concludes, we review your progress and discuss next steps for continued support.
Adjunct trauma therapy offers your clients access to focused trauma treatment while preserving their established therapeutic relationship with you. It may be a helpful option when a client would benefit from a trauma modality outside your current scope or when a specific trauma concern warrants additional attention. You remain the client’s primary therapist, and IPNC provides a defined, complementary course of treatment.
With the client’s written authorization, we collaborate to clarify treatment goals, establish each clinician’s role, and agree on communication during care. A typical course is approximately 10–12 sessions, with adjustments based on clinical needs and progress. Coordination may include an initial consultation, relevant updates, and a closing summary with recommendations to support your ongoing work together.
